The Birth of a Personal Brand
It’s a strange feeling when you become self aware that you’ve been slacking. Corona and quarantines threw a mirror in my face, I didn’t ask for it, but it was needed. I’m stressed about it, but also extremely motivated.
I’ve been fortunate enough to start multiple six figure businesses and a seven figure business. Having the seven figure business running on auto-pilot and dealing with a 10 year relationship breakup caused me to retreat from the pressures of the world. I was mentally checked out, not doing the things I should have been doing to grow the business to the next level.
This blog is my attempt to change this. I currently have a “Master Mind” group with my family and closest friends. The group finds various topics within our business, we study the topic and work individually to apply what we’ve learned to our own businesses. We meet up regularly to hold each other accountable and bounce feedback from each other.
Our most recent endeavor is creating a personal brand. Like many things I do in life, I don’t fully understand it until I’ve done a bunch of research on the topic.
Why the hell do I need to create a personal brand? I’m not trying to sell coaching or any services as a personal brand…
I tossed this question into Google multiple times and didn’t immediately find an answer that resonated. This changed when I found blog post that essentially said “people don’t follow brands, they follow people” and “your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.
This was ultimately what I needed to hear to get the ball rolling.
I’m hoping to use this blog as a way to build my personal brand… tell my story and hold myself accountable in public.
The fake-perfectionist in me wanted to launch this site with a full custom web design, logo and pictures. However, the “get this shit moving” in me told me I needed to just start and update it as I go.
I’m currently facing the challenge of overworking my design staff with PicPic Social & Paddee work, so I’ll have to just start here and make changes as I go.
As messed up as 2020 was for me personally and for my business, I’m very optimistic and hopeful for the future. I hope you feel the same.
